The North Face® reimagines hiking with SS17 collection

Comfort innovations for the trail central to new products on show at Outdoor 2016

Stabio, Switzerland – 19th July 2016 – For the 2016 edition of the Outdoor Show in Friedrichshafen (Germany), The North Face® developed the next generation of comfortable hiking footwear and apparel, with the launch of APEX FLEX GTX, a whole new category of outerwear, and XTRAFOAM™, hiking shoes with comfort at its core.

The first of these innovations is the APEX FLEX GTX, which has a unique structure that offers unprecedented movement and comfort, whilst keeping you dry and protected whatever the weather. By combining the properties of a cotton hoody with the protection of an outdoor shell, The North Face® has been able to create one construction that is waterproof on the outside and soft on the inside. This has resulted in the very first entirely waterproof jacket with unparalleled flexibility. Arguably the most advanced hiking jacket on the market – the APEX FLEX GTX allows you to perform at the highest level, whether you are scaling a sunny trail, hiking through a rain sodden valley or pitching tents on wind-swept terrain.

Alongside this, XTRAFOAM™ technology puts comfort at the front and centre of hiking shoes for the first time, whilst remaining sturdy and durable. The industry first four-tiered system brings together stability and softness, with a forward thinking high shock-absorption foam, that allows the shoe to stay comfy from the moment you lace-up, right through to the end of your adventure. This technology will be rolled out across The North Face’s® premium hiking and trail running shoes, including the new Endurus TR trail shoe that will also be unveiled at the show.

Next up from The North Face® is the Fuseform™ Progressor Shell, which now harnesses the benefits of the brand’s FuseForm™ construction in alpinism in a GORE-TEX shell. This revolutionary weaving process blends thicker, more-durable threads with lighter, lower-density fibres in high-wear zones, effectively reducing overall weight and creating a seamless transition from tougher to lighter zones. Allowing the wearer to stay dry, move seamlessly and maximise performance whatever the challenge.

Lastly alongside these ground-breaking pieces, The North Face® introduces a new men’s and women’s outdoor lifestyle range, made for kicking back pre- and post-outdoor adventure. Featuring technical designs with a lifestyle edge, the collection includes everything from waterproof jackets with DryVent construction to sleek modern backpacks and tents.

Arne Arens, General Manager of The North Face® EMEA, commented; “Since the brand began 50 years ago, The North Face® has always been proud of its commitment to continuously improve and advance outdoor products for the everyday adventurer. Through the efforts and the technological achievements, we have made, we hope to help people on their journey to explore the world.”

All products will be available in Europe at The North Face® and select retailers, as well as online at www.thenorthface.eu from spring 2017.
