The North face launches the Fantasy Ridge Collection Inspired by an unclimbable peak, reimagined for the city
The North Face has launched a new lifestyle collection, centred around the relaunch of a mountain legend: the Fantasy Ridge Jacket. Inspired by the original, pinnacle mountain GORE-TEX jacket of 1993, the outerware piece was a revolutionary in its day then, and the new range takes all the elements from the brand’s renowned expertise, and reimagines iconic designs for the city.
Paying homage to what mountaineers call “the last great problem” – a peak that has yet to be summited. Fantasy Ridge, a nickname aptly given by British climber George Mallory to the Kangshung face of Mount Everest, as it was so dangerous to even attempt that it would be considered pure fantasy to even imagine reaching the summit.
Showcased in a new lookbook of imagery, the collection is styled and shot by, The Basement (@basementapproved) and photographer Elliot Jones (@jones_photo), captured in various London loctions.
Designed and manufactured with this unattainable mountain peak in mind, the new line honors the Fantasy Ridge reference with a collection of products influenced by it’s nineties origins. Other signature items in the collection include the 1990 Staff Fleece jacket, Staff Fleece Pant, Fine2 Tees and the original 1992 Nuptse Vest. Each item comes in a variety of colourways inspired by the decade in which the original was created.
The collection will be dropping in The North Face’s dedicated Urban Exploration Lifestyle stores in London and Berlin and on www.thenorthface.com from 20th February.
