Aside from seeking out some of the hardest trad lines in the world, James &amp; Caroline were also delivering bouldering mats and equipment bought from money raised by their SPOT and Urban Uprising campaign, to the Rocklands Climbing School.<\/p>\n<p>Scaling lines like \u2018The First Dance\u2019 \u2013 1,640ft of overhanging hard sandstone \u2013 the pair discovered climbing routes that had largely never been explored before, captured in a stunning film called <strong>The Search<\/strong> set against the awe-inspiring scenery of the Cape, which can be seen at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZOcAs3c9Fmc&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZOcAs3c9Fmc&amp;feature=youtu.be<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking on their adventure into the unknown, Caroline said \u201cIt\u2019s a bit crazy trad climbing here \u2013 heavy gear, miles from everywhere, with snakes, long walk-ins and world-class bouldering just by the road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lines are so perfect and really continuous, from the moment you set off from the floor you don\u2019t have any resting on ledges or anything. You have gear everywhere so it\u2019s not dangerous but it\u2019s still a bit spicy with some good run-outs. In some parts of the world this place would be swarming with climbers but it\u2019s so deserted, as if it\u2019s stranded somewhere in time, long ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>James added \u201cWhat I love about trad climbing is being able to find yourself in what would normally be a very intimidating, scary situation and turn off that side of the brain because the climbing is so intense. If you were to take a step back, you\u2019d ask, \u2018God what am I doing here?\u2019 But when you go into the situation and start climbing, you forget everything. It\u2019s you, the rock, the moves, and it\u2019s so totally freeing. It is much more emotional than other types of climbing because you get so involved in the process \u2014 and emotional memories are the ones that last\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere we were in South Africa is the place I\u2019ve seen with the most potential, and it fits in really well with my style \u2014 it\u2019s often bouldery with big moves between horizontal breaks, with good protection.
