Leading Event Showcasing \u201cLove of Design\u201d to Take Place February 12-15, 2012<\/p>\n
Just a few years ago, the iPod revolutionized personal electronics worldwide. Tony Fadell, the designer who spearheaded the team that brought the iPod to market, will keynote SolidWorks World 2012, the company\u2019s annual summit of engineers and designers. Dassault Syst\u00e8mes SolidWorks Corp.\u2019s SolidWorks World event will take place February 12-15, 2012, in San Diego, and focus on the theme of \u201cunited by design.\u201d<\/p>\n
Known as the \u201cFather of the iPod,\u201d Fadell made his mark via his former positions as Apple\u2019s senior vice president of the iPod division and adviser to Steve Jobs. Today, Fadell is changing the game again as founder and CEO of Nest, a hot startup that\u2019s introduced the world\u2019s first learning thermostat. The Nest Learning Thermostat\u2122 learns about you and your home to automatically turn itself down when you’re away, guide you to energy-efficient temperatures when you\u2019re home, and free you from programming hassles by creating a customized temperature schedule. Nest has been dubbed the \u201ciPhone of thermostats\u201d by Wired, and the New York Times describes it as \u201cgorgeous, elegant and very, very smart.\u201d<\/p>\n
To create a game-changing product, function and design must go hand in hand,\u201d said Fadell. \u201cWe certainly put that principle to work when developing the Nest Learning Thermostat, and I\u2019m excited to share more about that experience with the thousands of passionate, designers and engineers who will attend this year\u2019s SolidWorks World.\u201d<\/p>\n
To this end, crowdsourcing will be a hot topic on Day 2 of SolidWorks World. Social development is becoming increasingly important to product ideation and creation, and SolidWorks customers will showcase how it\u2019s easier than ever to bring ideas to fruition. Day 3 of the event will bring the long-awaited What\u2019s New session. Attendees will get a sneak peek of SolidWorks 2013, as well as a view of what\u2019s on schedule for SolidWorks\u2014and its users\u2014this year.<\/p>\n
